Game On!

Greetings one and all. I trust all is well out there in your little corner of the cyberworld.

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m ‘The Puma’ and I’ll be here to offer my thoughts on what’s happening in the world of sport,  and let’s face it, there’s no bigger story on everyone’s lips at the moment than “that” result at the weekend. Yep, you know the one I’m talking about, the one that has had us all asking: is the balance of power in the city of Manchester finally shifting?

Man City’s seismic 6:1 victory at Old Trafford last weekend has certainly sent ripples far beyond the city boundaries, but my guess is that it’s far too early to be writing off Sir Alex and his men just yet.

Is Mario Balotelli (yes, why is it always him?) really the guy who can steer City to the title? Can a man who recently set fire to his own house with a box of fireworks ignite a title challenge?

Time will tell us more and I guess we just need a little patience. Though the reds and blues of Manchester are threatening to make the Premiership title a local affair, let’s not discount Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool. Not yet, anyway!

Tellingly, the top seven places in the Premiership are now filled by the ‘Big 6’ and Newcastle (sorry ‘toon fans, but you’ll be doing really well to stay up there). Some may say it’s depressingly familiar, but at least there is a feeling of change in the air. We have a genuine challenge to the status quo.

It’s game on as they say!
